"Silent Killing Machine" Found in fraser River

Pretty messed up stuff. Why would someone put it in a waterproof bag? I wonder how many more are in the River.

Vancouver police say they've seized a weapon described as a "silent killing machine" linked to several incidents of gang violence in the past year.

"The gang wars in our city and our region are being fought with high levels of violence and terror," said Insp. Brad Desmarais of the VPD gangs and drugs section at a press conference Thursday.

"We know that the gangs are using high-tech weapons to spread their vendettas. Getting these firearms off the street is a major goal for us."

Desmarais said the rifle, a Mac-11 machine pistol with a silencer attached, was found by someone fishing in the Fraser River two weeks ago and turned over to Richmond RCMP.

The weapon, which he described as a "silent killing machine," had been floating down-river wrapped in a waterproof neoprene bag.

An RCMP watch commander contacted Vancouver police when he realized they were looking for a firearm of that description.

The pistol has been forensically linked to a number of gang-related shootings in Metro Vancouver, said Desmarais.

"Some of these shootings have left victims with significant life-altering injuries," he said.

"Make no mistake — this is a silent killing machine capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute."

Desmarais said the gun is a key piece of evidence and that investigators are "in the process of tracing its history."

He asked that anyone with knowledge of the weapon call the VPD gang-crime unit at 604-717-2977 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Berzerker 10-09-2009 12:47 AM

That gun is bad ass... no way I would have turned that shit over...

Oh and as for why it was in the bag... I'm gonna maybe guess perhaps as an idea that might be possible if someone wanted to they could put it in a sealed bag and tie it down underwater somewhere. That way they could go get it whenever needed, use it and then put it back again. If the tether broke though.... by by pistola as it floats downstream.

Berz out.

You'd have A LOT of explaining to do if you were found with it.

well it just happened once, so that must mean that there are like 40 of these guns floating in bags in the fraser river.

in fact there are so many guns there that they've set up a website called www.gunhider.com so that gangstas won't run into each other when they go hide their guns. no one wants to run into friends of the victim when you're disposing of the murder weapon. AWKWARD!
