Depending on your car you can sometimes jump a jumper and it'll flash the code, otherwise you can opt to buy a scanner yourself for a $100 or find someone to do it for you.
obd2 doesn't have a paper clip trick.
that's only for obd1 and obd0 for some cars as it wasn't standardized.
Do you know anyone in the industry? Alot of techs have pocket scanners that'll do the trick just so you can read the code, and then go to Obdcodes.com to figure it all out.
