IS250 '09 halogen to HIDs help!
 

i recently got an IS250 '09 RWD, pacakged without HID's... so I'm looking to swap out the halogen to HID - i've done a portion of my homework already... from what i have searched,... i'll need

HID-D4S for low beam headlamps to HID lowbeams... so after browsing through a numerous amount of lexus forums, i'm getting no straight answers so hopefully someone here can help out! i know that the voltage for HID and halogens differ, if i just pull out the halogens and plug the D4S set into it, do i need to worry anything about the voltage difference?

correct me if my facts are wrong, i'm rather new to this modding scene and i'm just trying to start off with some simple stuff! here's a few places i'm considering to purchase from... it'll be great if anyone's got testimonials on any of these !

please don't flame me i actually did use the search tool over 9000 times and no-one talks about voltage so i'm assuming this is a dumb question... thanks guys !

D4S is for OEM HID, which you don't.

You have H11. You can buy a H11 kit, voltage etc shouldn't be an issue as you'll be buying the kit with ballast to make it plug and play.

the is250/350 is one of the rare cases in which the headlight projectors are identical weather you get the hids or non hid.

with that said, you can get away with the h11 hid kit, and you would have the same light cut off as the oem hids.

any recommendations as to where i could go get a set? locally in vancouver.. i'm looking for 6000K, visited a few shops and i'm getting lowest of $110 to around $150 for the kit...

and i'm getting mixed answers on installation .. i realize it's "plug and play" but somewhere floating on another forum.. . http://my.is/forums/f64/how-install-...-isx50-340763/ ... he drilled holes! i thought we don't need to drill holes.. how is drilling holes plug and play...?

this being said, anyone know where i could get philips or sylvania branded kits? i'm assuming these aren't cheap...

just go to hidoutlet. anthony not only sells them but he produces them, sees the manufactuering from begining to end. the guy knows what he is talking about.

Ballast will be located outside of the headlight housing and connected via lines which you have a grommet with your kit on the line so you have to drill a hole to fit the grommet onto the dust cover so your headlight will not/less likely to fog up or be dirty...

hm. since this is sort of related to the topic... anyone know where to get CCFL angel eyes for IS250 LOCALLY? or if not... whether i can just get them off ebay or some online shop and bring it to any autobody, they can do it for me? i'm not confident in... cooking my headlights...

yeah, thats not gonna be cheap. no shop or autobody shop will crack open headlights willingly.

So yea I went over the install and the reason he had to drill was because there is a cover over the lighting assembly. In order to get the wiring from the HID through you either have to ditch the cover or do what he did make a hole so the wiring can run through. I am also not sure why he went and soldered the stock harness plug to the ballast. If he bought the right kit all you had to do was plug and play. So you might want to do some more research cause this might be a Lexus thing.

Plug and play refers to the wiring only. Additional steps may have to be taken depending on the car. When I installed my kit it was literally plug and play like changing a light bulb. Seems like its pretty involved on the IS, so you might want to consider getting it professionally installed.

N-Motion charges $300 just to install angel eyes.

exactly, any shop willing to do it will charge an arm and a leg.

they take responsibility if say the lens cracks or leaking when putting back together. both cases are high when ur putting heat and stress on the headlight.

Sorry I just want to edit, its $250 not $300 and they come with 1 yr warranty for their work. Even though I just realized that they did not align my projector properly after a yr+.
