Acura Rsx Im thinking of getting my self one of these, what are your opinions, im thinkking either Rsx, celica, or eclipse |
out of those 3 RSX for sure k20 is a great motor, responde the best with bolt ons plus ECU and tune |
Test drive 3. You'll find the RSX is in a different league. Hence I got one. |
I've driven all 3 cars before Eclipse GT, Celica GT, RSX-S The Eclipse says 200hp on paper, but it didn't feel like it at all, the car is really heavy, I had this car for maybe a month or two, didn't really like it Celica i test drove for my buddy when he was looking for one, but since this was a private sale, i didn't put the car cuz the owner was with us. i really liked how if drove, it was nice RSX- This car has been my dream car since i was 12 and this is the car i ended up keeping, the power is great! its very refined once at stock. Responds very well to bolt on mods and has one of the best motors in the world! but there are a few draw back, the major one is the Transmission isn't great. and if you plan on getting a race header, you need to upgrade your motor mounts to prevent it from cracking, this takes away at the refined feel. test drive all 3 and find out for yourself, but RSX is the best! LiquidTurbo: are you on CRSX? |
make sure the tranny is in well shape tranny needs a lot of attention does not cold weather, needs to warm up in order to drive properly flush tranny fluid more often is a must. otherwise everything else seems pretty solid CELICA GT? or GTS? GT is garbage dont bother, corolla engine GTS on the hand is designed by yamaha, very nice engine |

Okay, if you read your owner's/maintenance manual, all you need to do is a drain/refill. FLUSH IS NOT RECOMMENDED BY HONDA. For the RSX, all you have to do, is a drain/refill every 96,000km. |
You might want to call an insurance place first to see what you'll be paying for each of these cars. I bet you anything you'll crap your pants when you find out how much it is to insure an RSX. Even with a discount it's retarded. A nice car, probably my pick out of the 3, but those insurance costs are just ridiculous! |
i'd choose RSX-S or Celica GT-S. they're both great cars. rsx interior i find nicer/ more luxrious than the Celica. RSX-s has 20 more Horse power. insurance is probably alot more expensive though. like another member said. watch out for the MANUAL tranny's second gear grind and 3rd gear pop out. im glad mind doesnt do these. |

gurantee 100% that tranny is gonna die none of the K20's tranny likes cold weather, that includes the JDM k20 tranny, i know becuz my friend has one. So dont play with fire |
^ Do you also change your oil every 3,000km too? Yes, you must be more knowledgable than Honda. Maintenance manual States: Non-severe service = Every 192,000km Severe Service = Every 96,000km. 'Your friend's JDM tranny doesn't work cold". That's nice. My transmission shifts just fine, even at -20C startups. A transmission is a closed system. The fluid simply has to lubricate gears. This is unlike engine oil, which has to deal with extreme temperatures, and contaminants. |
ahahha I like mugen evolution's bashing of the GT 1zz-fe engine... I drive one, so yes it is slow, however, the Lotus Elise didn't only have 2zz-ge's, they also used the 1zz-fe. therefore Lotus Elise, Celica, Corolla, Matrix, Vibe, all used the same engine at one point. |

got a problem? send a letter to spoon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ATk8TIx_-Y |
even DK himself changes tranny oil every other 3 engine oil change 96,000km? no comment ur tranny ur car, i could careless |
new cars nowadays the dealership recommands changing your oil every 7000-8000km instead the 5000km. And thats base on regular oil, not syn. oil. U wonna do that as well? |

MR-S sells for about $30-32 for that money and they dare to slap in a 140hp engine? 2zz engine on the other hand is one of the better engine ever made, hence what im saying is for that money it'd bring out the potential of the MR-S a lot more, rather than charge a overpriced rolla engine in a different shell |

Honda > Spoon Chief? Or Spoon Chief > Honda? Honda designed and built the engine. 8,000km oil change 96,000km transmission fluid change. Of course, the rules change if you track the car often, but we're talking daily driver here. After performing a UOA (Used Oil Analyses), I've determined I can run 12,000km per oil change with confidence, especially with a quality synthetic oil. I'm at a 130,000km with my RSX, and changed the tranny fluid around 100,000. Color of the fluid was exactly like the fluid I replaced it with. No filings either. Has my transmission failed? Nope. Shifts perfectly, even in -20 weather. Quote:
He's the CEO of Spoon, but that doesn't mean he's the most knowledgeable. Old habits die hard. PS. Your English sucks ass. |

Oh, and according to super credible Wikipedia, the MR-S uses an engine called 1ZZ-FED? I personally think the engine is quite peppy, but just that it doesn't react to mods  |
Dino oil is fine for those intervals. Hell for a 93 integra the recommended interval is 12k, oil is even better now so you're wasting a lot of money and oil. Might as well spend the money on a UOA a get more for your money. |
The reason why I suggested to change the transmission oil more frequently was because all hondas 6 speed gearbox are known to have problem. Whether its 2nd gear grind, or 3rd gear popping out, it is a problem honda will not fix nor admite. Therefore why not be on the precautious side and change out your oil more often. Lots people who own rsx noticed a difference if their problem isn't too servere. It is bascially a cheap maintenance so why not give it a try? Wow I didn't know I need to write a proper english with correct punctuations and all that shit on a car forum:rolleyes: |
just get the s2000 |
out of the 3 I lean towards the rsx-s well built car with a pretty good engine the Celica GT-S is a close second tho Nice engine and Toyota reliability but doesnt feel as nice to drive or at least to me |
