In short, it's an expensive swap and very time consuming (wiring part). Even a Subaru oriented shop bitch about the wiring on the swap. So, honest recommendation, sell the 2.5RS, and buy a used STi.

2 years ago, you'll be looking at around $10,000 for a turn key swap which could take about 2-3 weeks down time. Nowadays, you may be able to find more wrecked STi but the labor is intensive. So, if u're not doing it yourself, you'll still be looking at a ball park of $10,000 for a shop to do it. Before everyone jumps on this thread, you'll just needa call one shop that's fully capable to do the swap completely is Rocket Rally in Squamish. If you think Rocket rally is charging too much, don't do the swap elsewhere cause you're just asking for trouble down the road from other shops.
Otherwise, just pick up a 04' STi for 25K and enjoy.

^ yes, GC8 in japan have a 2.0L STi engine (EJ20)Again, if you wanna swap in a wrx engine, cost is maybe 1-2K less. Labor is what kills you. Go ahead and see what Patr's gonna tell you.

Adam at Amt Machine shop is great. He is the one who put an f22c into my Ae86 when I still had it. Its the Yellow and Purle one.
I think his brother has a Subaru rally car and also preps it for rallies.
He rates are very reasonable labour costs and his customer service and work ethic is at the top. http://www.amtmachineshop.com/pages/amthome.htm | | | | | |
