| So i finally got my center channel front speaker/cover and want to go 5.1...
here is what im thinking, i want to be a rolling movie theater, yes, you heard me. i finally got my hands on the rare center channel speaker & cover thats meant for my GS. I got the pioneer z2 headunit, now ive done some research and found out i need a pioneer dep-p8000 and amx-p8000 (i think). pioneer doesnt help much in saying its semi compatible.
Help me guru's, is it a lost cause?
yes i know, its a bit extreme but hey, do we really need 12in subs with 5000W systems? |

Yes we do need 5000 watts!
I can get that processor. I think that I know a guy with one kicking around his shop. I'l call and ask him if he still has it and how well it will work with your deck.

Most people can't even get 2 channel setup to sound good in there cars so 5.1 would be a waste.

I have an Alpine F#1 Status setup in my Ridgeline and when I play DVD-Audio discs, it is pure heaven. The problem with DVD-A is trying to get decent source material. You are at the mercy of the sound engineer. I listen to chamber music and decent material in the classical music genre is out there, but who the hell listens to classical all day long?
Movies in 5.1 are awesome. Especially, action movies. I can't wait for the Transformers DVD to come out. Come to think of it, the soundtrack might suck on that movie. Oh well, nothing like explosions in 5.1, LOL.

ahh, thats where you havent sat in my car yet. i even got a "HOLY SHIT" from my mom when we sat in the garage, put on transformers 1, and she watched and listened to the initial helicopter scene...
my dad gave me an OMG, then looked sad as the home theater didnt match up. (but then, the home theater is old school 4.1)
its a labour of love... its never about NEED... Quote:

It is definitely a labour of love. Nobody really needs this stuff, right?

Hey Shoei,
Soundworks has done an AVIC-Z unit with 5.1 Surround Sound with DEQ-P8000 and a AXM-P8000R.
Keep in mind the AVIC-Z unit is NOT really supposeto be compatible with th 5.1 Processory but there are a few tricks to be done to make it all work.
Call jamie if you have questions

it is possible, I dont know if you remember that Dodge Viper Truck? That was 5.1 with a Z unit.
Its not something you can normally do so you won't find info on it online. At the time we even called Pioneer Head Office Technition and they tried to help us out with it, but it came down to Soundworks figuring out pin configurations and a lot of bench testing to modify to make it all work
As well, you can alwas make your own centre channel. Or else Pioneer makes a small one

Alpine make this one also: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SBS0...DC.html?tp=108 I have one, but have not installed it yet. Depends on if you have room in the dash. My Cadence amp has a centre channel output, nice option to have.
