Powered by parents?

Lets sort this out, why the dislike for those people who have nice cars bought by their parents? I thought we are all a bunch of car enthuisast, however after reading through some of the recent threads, it seems like thats not the case for the majority of RevScene members.

Personally I have nothing against anyone who was given a nice car or someone hardworking who earned their car. I believe we should look past the fact that someone didn't "earn" their car and behave like true car enthuisast.

On the other hand I also highly admire individuals with hardworking ethics that have managed to purchase their own car with their own saved up money, be it a domestics, import, or euro.

I strongly believe there is no reason for all the disagreements and arguments that arise from these scenarios, why can't we all just get along and ejoy these beautiful machines side by side, be it a Honda Civic EG or a Ferrari F430?

Lets resolve our differences and behave like true car enthuisast and look past our differences.:)

i'm in agreement with what you said ^. it's those that flaunt it and act/drive like assholes that i have an issue with.

It's all mentality and how you were raised etc . . .

If you were raised with a wealthy family, then its up to your parents to mold you into the future, regardless of how they do it. If they think spoiling their kids (since everyone lives only once) is the way to go, then by all means that's the route they choose.

Or in addition to the value of a wealthy family, the parents may have taught their children politeness, respect and other valuable aspects of life. Its also in part of the child to absorb all these surroundings and to learn from them.

If you worked your ass off to purchase your own car, you have gained something in your life, and that's experience and pride. Raise your head up high and tell yourself you earned and deserved it. Regardless, you have your own life and they have theirs. Some are more fortunate than others and that's life. Take it with a grain of salt.

The only pet peeves for me, are those who drive like douchbags regardless if you were powered by parents, or powered by yourself.

my mkv gti is powered by parents...but i encounter alot of really nice cars (say like CL63...GTR...R8) who have Ns on the back and are usually around my age. if they didnt drive like assholes and show off excessively then it wouldnt bug me, they are just lucky...being grateful is one thing, but there is a thin line between that and being cocky...but sadly thats rarely the case...

if i were to judge myself, i dont think i drive like an asshole and i'm pretty conservative in my driving...unless im playing around with my friends :P (not racing lol)

i had to buy my own car, it was so hard haha. working part time and going to school, seems like it took forever to get

dton13 10-14-2009 04:32 PM

I think the majority of the hate goes out to the people who have their cars BOUGHT for them, yet aren't really as you say "car enthusiasts". The typical fast n furious or honger types. They don't know sh*t about cars yet own a nice car and ask questions about intakes, cat back exhausts, etc.

Honestly if you had someone who say loved/worked with cars since they were young and their parents bought them a grad gift would you say they didn't deserve it?

That being said anyone young who gets bought a 100g+ car, can still be ragged on for all I care. And if that was me I wouldn't be on revscene showing it off either lol

v.Rossi 10-14-2009 05:07 PM

the ones that brag deserve no respect, i mean not everyone is as fortunate as you in life, so don't be an ass and have some consideration. all in all, do we really need to even know that your mom and dad bought the car for you? exclude that irrelevant information out and just talk about your ride.
