JL Audio CleanSweep CL441DSP or AudioControl DQL-8?

it's for VW OEM RNS510 navi/stock speakers/single SQ10 sub/alpine PDX-5 driving sub and front speakers w/HU running the rears.

just curious why you would be using a pdx-5 and running your rears off your head unit?

So you would only be using 3 channels of the amp or are you using 4 channels to run just your front components and then sub?

yes, i want to run the stock rear speakers running off the HU just for some rear fill and have the main channels of the pdx-5 bridged to run the stock front door speakers and the 10" sub in the hatch.

You were going to:

Bridge Channels 1 + 2 to run Right Front Speaker
Bridge Channels 3 + 4 to run Left Front Speaker
5th Channel to run Sub.

That being said, each channel is only 75W rms and bridging it run each channel is possible, which would give you 150W at 4ohms.

You wanted to run your amp channels at 2ohms?
Few things wrong here. Amplifier does not determine impedance, the hookup of your speakers and how you hook them up and the impedance of our speakers determines that.
As well, since you are bridging your amp to 150W, it will not or should not be 2ohm stable. Bridged channels are usually not stable in 2ohm.

If this was something you wanted to do, you should have just bought the PDX4150 and you would've gotten a more stable amp for the type of application you are doing, but I doubt you are running your speakers in 2ohm anyway so it wouldn't matter.

Using Y Adapters decreases sound quality, its more resistance along the line more connectors, as well as Y splitters split the signal.

If you had used a PDX4150 you wouldn't need Y splitters nor the need to brdige your amp.


Lastly would be, if you are to buy a cleansweep or a DQL, it has 4 channels for your primary speakers, if you don't hook up the rears externally amplified through the Cleansweep or DQL, when you turn up and down the master volume, it will not adjust your rears.


What you want to do:

Cleansweep or DQL
PDX-5 and change front and rear speakers, Amplify ALL your speakers,
and run a sub.
Simply put and done the way it should be.

A few things to add here. Even if you wanted to drop the load on the amp to two ohms (which the PDX will do by the way) you need to worry more about the sound quality running at two ohms. Your Total Harmonic Distrotion will go up effectively doubling (in theory) your distortion. What I would do is run your front components in full active - so 75 watts to your mids and 75 watts to your tweets. We've been doing this a lot lately and have had very impressive results. Tuning takes a tiny bit longer but in the end, its worth it! Oh, and don't bother running rears. :)

What kind of speakers and stuff are in the car now?
Running a PDX5 in 3 channel mode does seem a little odd.

I would probably recommend going a different route. If you're looking to save space there's alot of good amps out there that are small. Focal has a newer line of amps which are small and sound amazing.

Otherwise I know Audison SRX, Audio Systems, Genesis also makes amazing sounding small amps. Price is on the slightly higher side, but that's the price we pay for high quality European amps.
