Suspicious HTML code for my webpage I recently created a webpage in .html format for a small business of mine and notice that embedded in the page source code is advertisement for websites that sells medicines and pills online. I've checked the code that I've uploaded to my paid hosting service and its clean but somehow after a day the website is in tact but has the hidden source code advertising medicine and pills. Any ideas? |
Specifically this is in my page source. <!-- [4c4f3e4f471c829a2c77746ed645af0a --><!-- 5003865521 --><div id="block18" style="display:none"><ul><li><a href="http://www.abbeyproperties.co.uk/config.php?set_user=1&s=266">order lunesta online</a></li><li><a href="http://www.abbeyproperties.co.uk/config.php?set_user=1&s=2463">best price of lunesta<>............. <td width="230"><table width="230" height="363" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> Any help would be useful cause i'm totally baffled. *Edit for me copying the long code |
UGH TLDR (I would bet it's being added by your host after the fact though. I'd take a long look through your contract with them, see if you can find some sort of concealed clause that would allow them to use their advertising?) |

are you using a free web hosting? |
I agree that it could be the host that's doing it. They can insert code. |
And if you're using a free host for your business ... that's ... not good. Plenty of cheap starter packages available all over the net. 1and1 ... HostGator ... HostPapa, etc. But I wouldn't doubt for a second it's your host inserting all those ads on your pages. |
I had a similar thing happen to a site I was hosting. I basically changed all my passwords related to that server (FTP, back-end logins, registrar) and it stopped happening. At first I just erased the code but it kept coming. But changing every password that is somehow related to the server fixed the problem. If you are paying for your hosting package, or receiving your free hosting from a reputable company, than I strongly doubt it's them. |
^ Thats crazy weird. I have never run into such a thing. |
anyone remember angelfire? or geocities..they did THAT... |
