Brake problem with my new Suzuki SX4

The brake feel of the car is very unprogressive. When I depress the brake pedal, the first quarter of the brake pedal travel is very light and is very sensitive. Even I lightly tap the pedal, the car stops rapidly.

After the first quarter of the brake pedal travel, the brake pedal becomes harder and harder to depress.

I also hear a loud "hissing" sound when I depress the brake pedal.

What's wrong with the brake? The car is new with about 300kms on it.

Thank you so much for your help.

Different cars have different brake pedal feels. In my limited expereince I've found that japanese cars' brakes are fairly touchy compared to german or american.

Take it back to the dealer. That's what warranty is for. At the same time it sounds normal. But double check for piece of mind.

I don't know what to say.. good to have someone with me in the same boat I guess...

from the info I gather, it seems like a brake pad issue..
