We have seen many Skylines that having unwanted engine knocking problems due to the octane differences between Japan and Canada.

Why ?

In Japan, it is possible to obtain an octane of 100 from regular gas stations. But unfortunately, in Canada, the highest octane available is 94.

Due to the combusting lower octane, most of BNR32(GTR), especially ones that boost up create engine knock, can possibly damage parts of internal engine. If the engine knock is not made on the Skylines' engines, the ECU will still read the regular fuel map. And this situation does not offer sufficient power.

Thus, to overcome this problem, we offer ECU fuel re-mapping for 94 octane and unique ignition timing.

Re-mapping includes all the limited-cut. altering REV limit is an optional.

We also tune ALL Japanese fuel management systems (sub & full con), such as Trust(Greddy) Apexi, and HKS.

japan doesn't use the AKI rating for their fuels like north america, that is why they have higher octane, their 100 is close to our 94 (it's something like 94.4 or something like that)

just an fyi

If this is true, then Rise Performance is not true in the engine knock ?

That's the one. He's an amazing Mechanic for Japanese vehicles. Reasonable rates. We're backed up on big projects. He's currently building a custom engine for a R32 GTR (RB30 bottom, RB26 heads or something like that). Should be able to push close to 500 to the crank. I'll get some pics and info up later.

He's quite high in demand for tuning. I think we have about 5 cars in the shop waiting for Akira to work/fix. So any of you guys that have imported JDM cars, Akira's your guy. Even just general mechanics. Amazing how many of those importers send him cars to fix.

Gotta remember alot of GT-R's come modded. Comes down to how much engine/turbo tweaking is done by the previous owner. Hence why the statement is mainly referring to Skylines (and other high compression vehicles)

From what I remember 100 Octane (RON) is closer to 95 Octance (AKI)

Yup. I get passed around like a cheap whore. ;)

Akira's business was growing and he needed someone to help him get things in order and take it to the next level.

So I'm here helping him up front and starting the car audio side of life for Rise.

clarence, are you handling all the audio stuff in the same location? the last time i was there (long time ago) it was shared with some sort of 4x4 business  and the website is not very current.

Phil@rise 10-22-2009 02:23 PM

Yeah basically starting up the Car Audio side of life for Rise. We just redid the showroom to look more presentable, I'll be getting the site redone. As for them rednecks with the 4X4's they're still there. JDM/Car Audio/4x4 shop ;)
