Granted only the newest DSLRs and medium format cameras can take advantage of the throughput speeds, but if you use a Firewire 800 or Expresscard 34 reader transfer speeds will be stunning.

$300 is nothing for a pro that's paid a minimum of $10,000 for camera equipment alone. Besides, you can write it off and charge equipment costs to clients.
