Check out this ghetto setup!

When photographing weddings or events lighting is key! I typically alternate between the single strobe 580ex mounted on the camera or the offshoe flashes triggered by pocket wizards. I came to a conclusion that both are great in their craft, but both lack what the other needs.

Forexample; the offshoe flashes are stationary, so if your subjects not moving your in the clear! Unfortunetaly this hardly happends at any event or wedding!
The hotshoe flash is great because it travels with you everywhere! It's draw back is the light can be very flash and pretty boring!

What if you can use both! Well now I can

Here's my ghetto setup so far. I tried it around the house and it worked well, but I think it needs to be put through a real test.
**Works really really well if your lens has a tripod collar, but not all lenses have one

Try selling these after when your 580ex and PW have Velco all over it!
Velco it to what anyway, the top of the 580ex? When your swinging the camera around it's going to fly off!

if you use industrial strength velcro which is something like $14 for 4ft at canadian tire. that stuff is hard as hell to remove. any amount of swinging isn't going to move, unless of course it hits something then it might come loose a bit.

I'd still buy a 580EX even if it had velcro glue on it - 420EX = old and boring, needs to be upgraded!

The velcro crap looks so ugly too!!

None the less the setup works wonders!
This resolved another problem that I had in the past. Another thing that bothering me about the off-camera flashes was focusing in pitch black conditions. I just turned off the flash and used IF to help me focus
