Question: how do you guys usually reply when a cop points out something illegal on your car and asks you if they are aftermarket?

is there anyway around saying straight up what it is and making it sound legal? lol

skyxx 10-31-2009 01:30 AM

^ Don't be a smart ass, just do as the cops says and you'll get the least "penalties" :)

"I bought it like that"

"Dealer sold it to me"

Already got pulled for my muffler, said opening was too wide, i got out and showed him the actual opening "2.25 inch" and he just sent me on my way

LOL @ all the ricers on RS. If you're car isn't all riced up then you have nothing to fear.

Illegal mods are illegal for a reason. The cops are just doing there jobs.

LiquidTurbo 10-31-2009 03:14 AM

Where can I find some information about the legality of lowered cars? My car's stock height, but I've always wondered about this..

!SG 10-31-2009 06:35 AM

the police forum.

all questions about tint, lowering, exhaust, lights, are all there, questions and answers since 2000. but almost always, there will be a question about the same items that pops up every month.

im sure even the cops we have on our board are sick of answering the same questions over and over and over and over...... and over again.

That's why they invented this: :gotsearch:

It's skidmark's favorite, I'm pretty sure.

She may have been pulled over for things such as malfunctioning lights or improper display of N.

I agree with you in theory, but I have personally dealt with cops who have fairly poor understanding of the mva. This leads to a waste of time and sometimes money for the person ticketed to prove himself innocent, which isn't right. I've tried to spend time to educate some officers at the court house, but they were ignorant at best.

I think these questions come up all the time because of inconsistencies with the polive in awarding tickets for certain things. I had my old volvo straight piped and drove past numerous cops and never got a ticket for it. I actually got a warning AFTER i put a glasspack on it, mind you it was still loud.

Most/lots of cars fail VI's, hell my car would probably fail just due to the fact that it's old and somethings aren't up to date with today's standards, ie. don't have to put the clutch in to start it, etc.
