getting rid of a lease

I'm getting rid of my 08 tl, and within 30 minutes of posting my add I'm being bombarded with emails.

Does the buyer pay lease transfer?

What am I responsible for?

Lomac 11-04-2009 10:03 PM

Most of the times the seller will offer to pay for the lease transfer as a deal sweetener.

not much. if your car is that hot, you aint responsible for nothing. however, some people who have shitty terms or need to leave the country asap, will pay for stuff like transfer fees, first month payment.. ive even seen - first 3 months payments made by the previous owner. or people want their downpayment back from a potential lessee of their car.

e.g.

Lease takover: 08 BMW 328i coupe. 10 grand down, 1.9%. payments 400 a month plus tax. Selling for 8k plus you pay all fees and taxes. These are rough numbers of course, but it should give you an idea.

I just sold a Honda Fit that was financed through Honda Canada... it's expensive man... they want like $400 for the lease transfer fee, plus you have to do it at the dealership and the dealership is allowed to charge a fee of their choosing for taking the "time" to do it for you... so it can cost like $800+

It's pretty much robbery..........

i've done this a number of times...

when trying to GET rid of your lease and you're somewhat desperate to do so, it's always a bit of an incentive to offer to pay the lease assumption fee which in Acura's case is about $450 plus tax for a TL.

BUT the worst is when you get these emails from people who have crap credit... to make matters worse, Honda Finance who handles the leases most of the time are super strict on credit approvals. So be wary of that and try to qualify the people first at your end.

not trying to jack your thread but... have you or anyone else reading this thought of or used http://leasebusters.com ? coworker is considering taking over someone's lease within her budget and asked about this site.

bcedhk 11-05-2009 07:05 AM

leasebuster is a hit and miss. my friend tried to sell his csx which had 2 years left, and not a single reply in 2 weeks..

however, another had a 08 GTI, and got replies like hotcakes within a week... I think it really depends on the market, cause leasebusters usually are people who already know the specific car they want to buy out lease from....

if i was to take over a lease, will the dealership run a credit check on me before making the transfer?

:haha::haha::haha:

You, Sir, are full of win.

Dude, aznlangjai, we get that you have bad credit. We get that you're in debt. Why on earth would you want to put yourself in an even more financially compromising position by taking on a lease on a fairly new car?
