just cancelled service with fido

and they said need 30 days for the request to go through, meaning i have to pay that 30 days of unused service because i already got a new phone and plan with rogers.

did anyone ever dealt with this? why should i pay for something im not using, i called today to cancel, and i want it cancelled now. that request has nothing to do with me.

You could've just transferred your account from Fido to Rogers without being penalized, even if you are on a contract.

I don't see why you need to pay a month's unused service.

mr_chin 11-05-2009 06:01 PM

because i didn't want the same number. this is the first time i've ever cancelled with a provider and going to another, so im not very experienced with these kinda stuff.

but paying for something im not using is just common sense. there's no way im paying it

just out of curiosity...what plan did you go with Rogers?
my friend is nearing the end of his contract with fido and he's thinking about transferring too

Changes to your account (e.g., monthly airtime plan, options or identifiers) will not take effect until after your next billing date.

if that's the one, i called to cancel on the 5th, and my billing cycle is the 6th, so why should i go through another month of unuse service? they should immediately cancel my phone the next day which is the end of my billing cycle.

if your friend is planning on signing a contract with rogers, he must subscribe to one of the $50 plans.

100 weekday minutes + 100 bonus
500mb data
call forwarding whocalled and call manager
choice of feature includes my5 local, unlimited txt, extra minutes, etc.

first month includes call display and voicemail for free. if he decides not to keep these features he will have to call in after a month to remove these.

also the first 2 month is unlimited local calling.

The t&c that u said is line 12.

it sucks that you have to pay an extra month. i did as well when i cancelled w/ bell. but i figured it's something you have to do regardless. part of their process that you cant get out of. at least now you know in the future to call ahead of time so you wont get sucked into pay out another month.

mr_chin 11-06-2009 02:08 PM

Okaaaaaaay... so the phone is out of service now. Guess I have to make another call to ask if I am still gonna be billed for the next 30 days...

saiko 11-06-2009 02:18 PM

which number do you call to ROGERS to transfer your FIDO number and contract over? Is it possible to do this with a year left on contract?

*sorry for thread jacking..

Inaii 11-06-2009 02:20 PM

I think it's safe to say you will be. When mine was cut, they charged me for an extra month of service.

mr_chin 11-06-2009 09:14 PM
