fm

a lot of the fm transmitters are limited to individual machines, but tape adapters are pretty much universal

you can charge your device with some fm transmitters

sound quality is most likely better with the fm transmitter but there may be the occasional interference

with that said, I'm still using a tape adapter for my 2g iphone :lol

If the tape head in the deck is clean, definitely the cassette adapter.

Well actually, there is a "direct connection" fm modulator. There is one you can get made specifically for ipod too, it charges the ipod as well as plugs directly into the antenna port on your stock or after market deck and you plug your radio antenna into it, giving you damn near perfect clarity.

AVS_Racing 11-10-2009 11:11 AM

wow ppl still have tape decks in their car?

A tape adaptor can give much better sound quality than an FM transmitter, but it's gotta be a good quality tape adaptor. Cheap ones put out a shitty, muddy sound.

FM adaptor

buy mine

Monster FM transmitter for iPod :d

Cassette magnetic head has a much higher fidelity and range and FM

orgasm_donor 11-11-2009 10:07 AM

Yikes!
They both give me serious EARitations.

Proper Ipod integration or a new deck that supports Ipod/USB are the only choices before headphones (ok, don't wear headphones while you drive!).

Most cars have much better Ipod direct connection solutions! Just ask a sponsor.

Cassette deck adapter ??? from 70's?
It's almost 2010 now...
I think some teen (under 16) don't know what is CASSETTE TAPE anymore...

:haha: same here, not liking the sound quality with the tape adapter though, but it was only $7. plus have to buy an adapter for the iphone -.- might just dremel it next time to fit lol, What's a good deal on FM transmitters?

godwin 11-13-2009 03:20 AM

So? Cassette's magnetic head can still carry more range than FM can.

Given the choices are Cassette vs FM.. Cassette is better sound quality wise. FM is more convenient and compatible with more cars.

If you don't like sound quality of a cassette tape adaptor.. you won't like the FM ones.

+1. If it sounds shitty, it may be just the reader head is dirty; see if you can hunt down a head cleaner and run it through.

Just upgrade your deck it'll be better in general since you can then have a new better operforming deck while using the auxillary cable or usb port.

You can install a HARDWIRED FM MODULATOR that will give you a consistant FM quality range. But keep in mind with the antenna adapters and FM Modulator, you're looking at easily over $200 with install.

The thing is, all things equal and assumed in perfect working order, cassettes still have better frequency ranges and noise floors compared to FM as far as I know.
