Headlight bulb
 

I own a 2002 Honda Civic and I want to switch to some brighter headlights from the stock halogens.

Any recommendations on anything decent out there that's not too expensive?

keep it stock, dont get HID. or else you will blind oncoming drivers.

only get the HID if you are going to retrofit some projectors in, otherwise please don't

If you are sick of the gay yellow stock color and don't want to go though all the trouble to retrofit, just stick in some ricer 6000k halogen bulbs.

Ricer bulbs are for colour. They don't work.

Get Sylvania Silverstars or Hella bubs/PIAA.

Cheaper is not better.
Colour doesn't do shit for actually being able to see.

^had PIAA on my 02 EL before , thought it wasn't that good. My ricer bulb had better light output, lasted longer and 4x cheaper.

Anyways you can try Eurolite xenon super plasma from one of our sponsor. mine lasted pretty long on my civic + its cheap.

i would but what you see will be off.

my fogs have the yellow stock insert in them so the light output would come out yellow. ill take and post a picture next time. i didnt like the look, they were bright, but the color that came out was like that pale yellow banana soft candy color.

i don't know about the eurolite xenon plasma, but i had eurolite xenon fusions on my 2000 1.6EL and one of the bulbs melted the harness

You always check the wattage.. wattage too high + when cars get older.. the harness will melt, because Wattage/12V = Amp.. basically the wires degrade overtime and they are not that small in gauge size.. to start off with.

Ikkaku: I was kinda worried about the wiring too and so was my mechanic, but then he checked the label and he said its fine. Put the Super Plasma on my 97 civic so same wiring as 00 1.6 el. One bulb burnt out after 7 months of driving mostly at night time and for $20 i think that was good.

the GE platinum nighthawks, from what i saw on the bulb are oem wattage, or if not a little bit higher +5 or +10W more.

look at the bulb, that is the best way. packaging might say 70W or even 90W on some aftermarket light bulbs, but you have to look at the bulb itself and whats stamped on it. they may be standard 55W but "simulate" a wattage of say 70Ws

there are however light bulbs out there, i know piaa for a fact, that make light bulbs in higher wattage. i would only go this route if u know for sure ur housing is big enough to handle the extra heat. also make sure ur oem wires are thick enough guage as well.

Why not get the Philips X-treme Power. They proved to have the best light/distance etc etc.

I'm looking for bulbs as well, I had some cheap ass bulbs put in (not my idea, brother bought it for me) and one of them died after three weeks.

Any suggestions for good quality 9006/HB4 bulbs?

I don't think the Philips Xtreme Power come in HB4...

So, I finally installed the Philips X-treme Power H4 bulbs on my 02 civic. For some reason, my main beams work, but my hi-beams don't work.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

contacts? use a multimeter to verify the bulbs have continuity

the piaa extreme white and intense white are very good. and we honour the piaa warranty

Just put my Philips Xtreme Power today and everything went well. Hope you got yours working properly. Its yellow ish but really bright, as bright as my previous Eurolite XB Plasma only thing is xb plasma was on the white ish side. Now lets see if it'll last longer than the eurolite.

BUMPING my own thread! So one Philip X-treme's blew out this weekend. I'm thinking of ordering another pair to replace them. But before I do that,

What bulb brand/models are you guys using? Any other good long lasting bulbs?
