Canon 5D MKII/7D 2nd courtain sync with PW Plus II & strobes Hey guys, So I was shooting in class yesterday and I couldn't set my 7D for the rear courtain sync using pocket wizards plus II with strobes. Is it a case where maybe I'm not able to do it with that particular type of pocket wizard? I read some forms on the net and looks like the original Canon 5D was able to do it, but not the new 5D MKII, nor 7D. Also, my friend in class with his D700 thought he couldn't do it, but after asking 2 different instructors, we found a "secret" menu (well, it wasn't secret, but it wasn't obvious either), and he was able to set his D700 to do rear courtain sync. The menu on my camera just said that it's either an incompatible flash or not powered on... :( I can set it to 2nd courtain no problem using the on-camera flash or my 580EX. Have any of you guys with 5D MKII had this issue? Is there a way around it without having to have to buy different pocket wizards? Would it work with the new ones? Thanks. |
On my 5D mkII the option is there but greyed out. Maybe because my 430ex doesn't support that option? Edit: just confirmed that it is not selectable on the camera body (only on the flash itself) with the original 430ex and must be the 430exII model to adjust on the body. I can only assume that the same must apply to the PW. |
Update: Not possible with 5D MKII and 7D... Period. Lame. |
See? You should have gotten a Nikon. :p ...or a Sony...or a Pentax.... :D |
You know what pisses me off, every time my buddy talks about his D700 it always outshines Canon in functions, etc... WTF? Pisses me off.. oh well, I can't afford a D700 so it doesn't matter lol |
At least you can tell him the 7D's AF blows away the D700's AF! :D |
Sweet! lol |
