Engine Makes weird sound (with video)
 

Its my winter beater. The previous starter worked great... when it worked. I replaced the starter with a new one and it makes this screaching sound and turns over slower than it should. I have tried adjusting the starter, but it only fits "one way" Anyone?? Its a 1991 grand prix 3.1 auto

Almost sounds like the ign sw. is sticking for 1/2 a second after the car starts. So it's still spinning.

Edit:
Or the gear is not pulling back fast enough and spinning with the flexplate. That would probably be a solenoid issue.

Turns out I forgot to shim the starter so its mashing a little too hard.

I assumed you tried shimming it when you said you tried to adjust it.
