Shops familiar with Evos

are there any shops in GVA that are familiar with Evo IX's? i'm buying one and need some help with the modifications that came with the car. anyone?

roastpuff 11-12-2009 07:35 AM

HybridR - they're getting pretty good reviews on EvoM.net and it's sort-of a joint venture with AJR?

At any rate they're the ones who did the Blitzgear Evo that showed up at the Summer Meet.

Do those come with turbo?

124Y 11-12-2009 09:45 AM

^ noob

lol jokes aside, I can vouch for HybridR. They provide quality parts @ good prices. The best of all, they're very nice and helpful!

another +1 from me. They are VERY helpful and helped me out a lot. Great prices (probably one of the best in GVRD) and yet backs up with one of the best services locally as well.

I think RS sponsor racing greed is familiar with evos

^^ haha

Naka San 11-12-2009 01:02 PM

^^^ Sorry for the typo

Hybrid-R is a good company but i also recommend you going to A&J racing because they have seen and is knowledgeable on the EVO IX. Evasive motorsports are good friends with A&J Racing and Evasive has a project EVO IX HKS Track Car. Everything on my car has been done @ A&J.

Not familiar with Racing Greed but if anyone can get some info on the shop that will be good

thanks for the input guys. honestly, i know this sounds weird, but at the moment, i do not know exactly what's been done to the car. since the car was bought from an aution and brought in by Messiah motor cars, they aren't sure on the mods either, but from carproof and carfax the car has never had a claim and has very low mileage. from eyeing around the only mods i'm sure of are apexi n1 coils, some sort of carbon looking exhaust (doubt its hks carbon ti), greddy intake, a fairly new looking boldon turbo kit (a bit bigger than OEM) that i know nothing about, and a greddy intercooler. the reason why i want to find out about a reputable shop for these cars is i want them to help me find out what exactly has been done to the car, and if anything i would like it retuned, or if necessary, upgrade the internals(but i heard the 4g63 is pretty bulletproof) so the thing doesn't blow up on me. from the test drive, this car was stupid fast with 4 people in the car, just worried about long term issues.

Naka San 11-12-2009 02:34 PM

PM me for more info you can drive it down so i can take a look at it for you and see what has been done. I am starting to be quite familiar with the 4G63 motor and the evo setup.

Your option on retune is either rocket rally (expensive) or driving down to English racing in Washington. But right now AJ-R is working on Cobb AP Pro tuning so maybe i can hook you up and see what they can do for you. I would change back to a stock turbo on a 9. It's fast enough because the EVO IX turbo is a bit bigger than the EVO 8 and + Mivec engine.

josel_atr 11-12-2009 04:17 PM

were you looking at this?

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...461315209.html

i would prefer a near to stock evo for piece of mind. but thats just me. i know you can see a bigger turbo, intercooler etc but how can you know what else was done to it?

if you are willing to pay for that much, i would just shop for an evo from the states to bring in canada. lpauto helped me through this process. they are one of the sponsors here.

as for shops, i dealt with chayen from gearheads. i vouch for them. i also heard of racing greed but never dealt with them. they are pretty fast responding to questions though!

delSol97 11-12-2009 06:03 PM

yes, this is the one i'm getting. i thought about getting a car from the states, but since i'm carless right now i'd rather get my hands on something asap so i could get around.

+1 for Hybrid R / Gearheads! Lots of experience on Evo's!

josel_atr 11-12-2009 09:27 PM

haha mid to high 30's is the price tag but trust me, these guys wont budge a lot.

op - importing a car from the states only takes 3 weeks. give lpauto a call. they'll take care of you.

We've worked on and tuned a lot of Evo's from III's to X's. We currently have a tuning package which is $300 for your car. This includes a full dyno tune on our AWD Mustang Dyno with print-outs of hp, tq, boost, and Air:Fuel ratios.
