Cannot seem to connect to 3G with 9700

I'm on Fido. Just got my Bold 9700 today. Got data and all that. My 9700 is T-Mobile Unlocked...

Any suggestions?

Can you browse? Have you released the PIN with T-Mobile? Did you create new service books?

5t6n 11-13-2009 07:21 PM

I can browse. I've already registered my PIN with Fido. And I registered the service books. By creating, is that something different?

No.

Plug your BB to your Blackberry software, create a new security key (I think) and jiggle the mouse. I could be wrong however. It's been a long time since I've used BIS.

I read somewhere that the tmobile 9700 runs on a different frequency than the 3g for rogers/fido. So you can only use 2g on your unlocked 9700.

Dunno how to help the OP. I give up. White towel!

Gh0stRider 11-18-2009 02:50 PM

ya, TM 3G is not compatible with Fido/Rogers 3G.

AT&T 3G would work.

Gh0stRider 11-18-2009 02:55 PM

TM 3G frequencies are 1700/2100
Fido/Rogers is 1900/2100

5t6n 11-18-2009 02:56 PM

refund? im choked now. HAHA

Gh0stRider 11-18-2009 03:03 PM

i hope you bought it from the store and not from "some guy"

If you got it from a store, i dont know if they will take back a unlocked phone.

5t6n 11-18-2009 03:12 PM

Got it from Cellworld actually.

Tim Budong 11-18-2009 03:31 PM

Fido/Rogers is 850/1900.

Good luck man, your phone would only be useful if WIND Mobile gets up and running. :(

Hey guys, I just had a question that's along the same line i suppose.

If you are on Fido with the data plan and say if you got the 9700, are you able to use the BB Messenger function? (What functions will u not be able to utilize if you are not with Rogers?) or is that only available for ppl on Rogers?

It'll be a big decidin factor for my next phone choice.

Tim Budong 11-18-2009 07:23 PM

U need to goto on a fido bb plan to fully use the berry
A regular data plan will not allow u to use bbm/push email/and the berry browser

I have my 9700 on fido

you can use all the functions in a berry as long as you have a BB data plan (which includes BIS and all the goodies like bbm, email, etc).

as for the OP, hope you can get a refund on the phone.

celworld sells their 9700 for 580 while phonemore sells its for 660. i was planning to check out celworld for the 9700. But now i will have to consider elsewhere if they offer the tm versions only.

I'm sure they have other versions.... I'm gonna try to see if I can exchange it for a Bell/Rogers/AT&T Version

Gh0stRider 11-19-2009 11:14 PM

3g wireless toys sells rogers unlocked ones for 650

JordanLee 11-20-2009 12:20 AM

I just went to CellWorldCo today and they dont even have the Rogers/Bell/Telus ones and said they only carry the T-Mobile.
