Taking points off your licence? This might sound stupid but is there any way to take points off your licence? For example taking a driving course or community service? Thanks! |
Time does wonders. |
Is that the only way, to wait it out? |
Well, wait it out, pay the premiums... Or surrender your license IIRC. |
If you get too many in a year, ICBC will make you pay $$$. Then they magically disappear!! |

I've never had to pay for points on my license, and I've had over 5-6 tickets for various minor infractions (3 points each). Naturally I lost my license a couple times due to the probation period, so it seems that the points disappeared because of that. I was broke during this period too so I never paid off the tickets until it came time to get my license back, and reviewing the records it was only the ticket value plus the license fees. |

aint gonna work |
Damn, I was hoping my 3 points i got for not having my N on would be gone since I just passed my class 5... T_T |

I've always wondered why people would you think that? Are you still the same you that committed the offence? If so, why wouldn't the points stay until their expired time? It isn't like by getting your license you get a magical clean slate. |
you only pay premium after 4 points... so if you only get 1 ticket in a year, you wont pay anything unless is a due care ticket or something like that, which has 6 points... a regular speeding ticket is 3 points... if you dont wanna pay your DPP, then surrender your license for a few months, and they will reduce it, or if you give it up for a whole year, then you wont have to pay anything... keep in mind that it will pro-rate the reduction, so if you have 9 points and have to pay $900, and give up your license for 4 months, then you save yourself $300, but then you have to pay $125 to get your license back... so it's up to you what you wanna do... |
giving up your license for 30 days can reduce points premium? not too bad if going away for vacation or something. |
giving up your license for 30 days would only save you about $100, if you're lucky, and then you have to pay $100 fee for reinstatement and $25 license fee. so you come out $25 in the hole... and if you have a lot of points, you will probably get your license suspended anyway, so giving it up for 30days will just prolong your suspension |
