Obama did not respond directly but said his government “fully supports a one-China policy”, which entails no diplomatic recognition for Taiwan.
“We don’t want to change that policy or that approach,” he said.
“One of the things that I think that the United States, in terms of its foreign policy and its policy with respect to China, is always seeking, is ways that through dialogue and negotiations, problems can be solved,” Obama said.

He said "we" as in the US government. And I think he's right, the less tension in area, the better
