How to Adjust Gamma / Washed-out Image?

I just formatted and reinstalled one of my office PC.
The PC uses a Asus M2A-VM mobo with onboard 690G graphic.
Before I did the reinstallation, I used to adjust the gamma/brightness/contrast/color with the ATI catalyst control center that comes with the VGA drivers.

However, i decide not to install the ATI Control center this time because I found it hogs up quite a bit of resources and slow down the PC a lot during startup. Plus I never use it except for setting up the correct gamma in the beginning.
But after installing the VGA drivers w/o the ATI CCC, the image seems very "bright" and washed out. I tried adjusting the monitor's brightness and contrast but it doesn't fix the problem...

Is there anyway I can adjust the image correctly without needing to install the ATI CCC?
I couldn't find any option to adjust the image colors in window.
There is a color profile thing under window's color management, but there is no option to adjust anything, and adding/changing new color profiles doesn't change anything.

powerstrip

but really, just install CCC. the thing that might bog ur system down would be .NET. but i don't find that it slows anything down if it's slipstreamed into your OS.
