I'm surprised the government didn't pull this off earlier. Time to dig out the drawer of old/dead phones..

just go to any bestbuy...they will accept old phones...some for planting a tree only..but some you may get some value out of it in the form of a bestbuy gift card..

^yes they accept everything that comes with the phone..but its not necessary...just the phone is sufficient...
i keep the charger and headphones n stuff just as spares and an extra convenient

Just to give another option, you can trade in your phone at Best Buy for a gift card. Depends on the phone how much credit you get.

The box of phones I have are all ancient. We're talking about Nokia 5100 + roaming puck (you needed a puck back then!?), 3390, Motorola V60.. :D

This is good to know though. When the MicroUSB standard comes in next year or so (many new phones are already using it), this program is going to save MILLIONS of chargers from ending up in the dump.
