I'm wondering if anyone give me some opinions as to how difficult or time consuming it takes to install any of the locally available units are? From easiest vehicle to worst?

Depends on the car, and how far you want to integrate it into your car.. eg steering wheel controls etc.

There are harnesses on sale at ebay so you don't have to butcher up the connections.

Realistically its a Y intercept of the radio harness.
Easy on basic vehicles, a lot more difficult if its factory amplified system.
You can buy a regular radio harness and then a reverse harness to make life a little easier and cleaner job (more plug and play style)

Depends on location of mounting the controller/Display
Mount the microphone
Pull the stock Radio out and wire it (or you can buy the pre-made vehicle specific harness or make your own plug and play harness)
Usually people charge shop time anywhere from 1.5hrs to 3 hrs (Factory amplified stereo systems can be much longer and require more parts)

One more question, do you normally cut all speakers with relays or the system has internal I/O for four speakers? Have you done just one speaker with them??

Yes it has internal switching. no relays required.

If you only integrated 1 speaker instead of all 4, then the volume of the rest of the speakers would not get muted. From what I can recall

How do they get muted? Does introduce a load to the head unit? hmmm, drivers speaker integration would be best for reducing install time.

Older German vehicles will be a breeze as that's the wiring harness adaptors that they're using. I would suggest that 2 hours labour on anything but those would suffice as the industry standard...until you get into OEM multi-channeled amplifiers. At that point, you can use the "mute" output to interupt their amplifier either at the fuse or at the amp itself with a spdt relay and then add your own speaker under the dash for and extra parts charge on the speaker, plus the 2 hours labour.
