Logitech Mouse: MX Revolution vs Performance Mx (Darkfield) Need a new mouse. (I think dropped my G7 in the garbage bin and threw it away..) I was thinking of getting the MX revolution and then I realized logitech just came out with a new mouse (to replace the mx revolution i think). Shape and buttons looks almost identical, except it features a "darkfield" technology that lets you use the mouse on glass surface. Anyone tried the new mouse so far? Does it really work "well" on glass? I have a glass table and it would be a nice thing to be able to use it on the glass top. (I usually use it with a mousepad under the keyboard tray) Cheapest MX revolution I found locally is $69, where else the performance MX is $120. Is it worth the price difference? or I am better off sticking with the MX revolution? |
cant comment on the performance MX, but i was looking into the 2 u are comparing just last night. My MX Revolution is starting to die on me, about 2 years of usage. The left click is starting to act weird, like i would click ONCE and it would "double click" on me, its getting annoying. If the Performance MX is designed like the MX Revolution, there will be 1 flaw, which is the charging contacts under the mouse. The contacts on my mouse gets filled up with dirt/dust so everytime i want to charge the mouse, it wont charge when i put it in the charging dock cause the contacts r dirty, and its very annoying to wipe it everytime. but other than that flaw, the revolution is a great mouse, i like the profile alot and its comfortable to use. |
RE: Logitech Mouse If your interested, I got a new MX1100 for sale. Performance/button-wise, its on par with the Revolution. I am currently using the same mouse paired with the Wave Pro; the mouse fits like a glove. I think its much better than the Revolution since the batteries are replacable. Just grab a set of Sanyo rechargable batteries for it and your set. Here a link to my post, let me know. Thanks. |
I have the Anywhere MX with darkfield.. and it's gooooooood.. works on glass surface well. |
I have the MX Revolution, got it 2 years ago for $60 during boxing day when my MX 700 started to fail (4 years of use). At that time MX 700 was one of the best mouses you can get, after I got the Revolution it absolutely destroys it. This thing is awesome, if all that differs with the darkfield is the glass thing, I say just save yourself some money and get the Revolution. As for the battery problem I never really had any problems with battery use, I use my mouse at least 4 hours a day and I have never ran out of battery. As well, to the poster who mentioned this problem. You should call Logitech support and tell them the problem, Logitech has one of the best customer support for a hardware company. Chances are they will send you a free replacement. |

My MX700 duo is still kicking after more than 7years. The 2 rechargeable AA battery doesn't hold charge too well anymore (need to recharge every 2 days), but you can easily replace them if you want to. hm...found Performance MX for $100, and MX revolution for $65 $100 for a mouse still sounds a lot tho when my computer costs less than $300. |
logitech make the best mouse, i've used logitech since my first 486. they've never let me down, and when they have, they sent me a brand new mouse, every time. I've gotten like 3 mouse replaced. one stopped working, just.. it didnt turn on, phoned em up, replaced it free. another one button stopped clicking... got it replaced. then i opened up the old one, and fixed it. lol. they seem to only make u ship back the mouse you bought if it's a higher end model. I bought the laser gaming one in taipei cuz i managed to bargain it down to pathetically cheap prices. after a week the cursor started to stumble and go wonky and not in the direction i wanted. i got it replaced. lol yeah it sounds like a lot of them break down, but i'm including the ones my brothers and mom/dad got as well. this is all the logitech mouse's i've owned over the past 20 years. 3 out of 20 years ain't bad. |

yeah i think warranty is 3 years. give them a call dude, they'll just ask you to read some numbers off the bottom of your mouse, it doesnt hurt to try. |
if its for gaming then the mx revolution isn't great, cant comment on the performance mx but the G9 is the best logtiech mouse I've owned. I love the one the fly dpi settings for doing different things and the shape looks weird in the pics but it ended up being more comfortable than the g7/mx518 shape. |

I haven't used the Performance MX yet, but I'm not particularly fond of the MX Revolution. Maybe if I did more Photoshop ... |
