| Driver Help (BD burner)
Hey guys got a Vaio, a FW590, and im looking for drivers for the blu-ray writer that i opted for the MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ240AS
BUT the Vaio Support page doesnt have the original drivers for this drive! its only got drivers for an Optiarc and a different Matshita drive (no they dont work with this computer, i tried using them but it says No)
The page doesn't even have drivers for the Video Card (ATI HD 4650) its got drivers for the 4570! (that wasnt even an option on the ordering page)
I tried searching google and there's nothing for/about this drive -_- (not even the panasonic site it only lists up to the UJ235A)
Anyone have any clues?
I emailed Sony but they're No help
i got an answer from sonystyle... what i figured as well.. the guy told me to use the drivers for the other drives -_- even when i said in the email that the vaio driver installation wont attempt to install them because they're for different hardware.... gave me the same line for the video card drivers
wrote back to them and the reply was just "keep checking back"
waiting on panasonic to reply
wanna upgrade to win7 pro/ultimate and want to make sure i have all the drivers just in case

Did you tried and it ask you for a driver?
I would assume it should recognize it in 7 without extra driver installation. After all, it's an optical drive and Windows should recognize it no problem.

well, VAIO needs drive for a lot of things for sure. Things like turning on/off bluetooth, wifi. Adjust LCD brightness, etc. But I really don't think u need a driver for optical drive. You need driver for SATA chipset that your bluray is connected to, but not the SATA device itself. If bluray writer needs driver, your hard drive would need drivers too....
If you have Bluray playing application like WinDVD, it should recognize it as well.
If you have Nero bluray burning, it should also recognize the drive and use it....

^ yap. I un-install all computers that has Vista in the past year. Now I tried W7, I can gladly say it's not as annoying as Vista anymore. Much better than Vista for sure.
