2010 Kia Forte Koup

I was watching Motoring and caught a review of the sedan so I thought I'd look it up. If I were in the market for a Civic or Corolla, I'd probably have a look at this.

It's got some pretty cool standard features for something under $19K. 2.0L, voice activated bluetooth, 6 spd. manual, ESC. Upgrade to the SX model and you get leather, automatic climate control, a nicer gauge cluster, trip computer, Sirius satellite radio, power sunroof, fog lights and aluminum pedals. The only option is the manumatic transmission.

What goes unsaid is the potential these engines bring to Kia. Both are derived from the so-called World Engine program that saw Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai (hence the Kia connection) collaborate on a range of powerplants. Add variable valve timing to the exhaust cam and bolt a turbo to the 2.0L engine and you have the Hyundai Genesis motor, which produces 210 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm. Likewise, adding a turbo to the 2.4L engine produces essentially the same unit powering the Dodge Caliber SRT4 - it runs 285 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm! It does not take a fertile imagination to figure out where Kia is heading.

The sedan looks decent too and I'm sure the same options apply.

Oh and yeah the front looks like Civic ripoff, the wheels (at least on the coupe) are fugly and definately needs more low.

I swear, Kia decided to make a Honda Civic look-a-like in the Forte, hehe.

Definitely a handsome car, and pricing is good.

Sedan looks better, not as ricy.

^:werd: inside and out, this car does not disappoint, and pretty good power too, considered this but the astra was a better deal :D

I really like these cars. I sat in a few, but didn't have the SX (2.4L) in stock yet so I didn't bother taking it out for a drive. But for what you get (practically fucking everything), it's a wicked deal of a car. Under $24G's out the door. The only downside is the interior quality, mainly the dash. It looks cheap, and feels cheap. But then again, you have to keep in mind the price you're paying, and what you're getting.......so I guess they had to keep costs down somewhere. And personally, with the bang/buck level as high as it is, the interior material quality isn't high on my list of reason's to get the car or not.
