Chest vs back

What's the difference between the upper body of these 2 males here?

If you workout, won't your chest be wider than your back?

!Yaminashi 11-20-2009 11:02 PM

Depends on what you workout, and what exercises you do
All I know is I absolutely LOVE back days. I look forward to them all week

spyker 11-21-2009 12:18 AM

What's the difference?

One has a body of a boy(Beckham),the other has a body of a man.

ShanghaiKid 11-21-2009 03:25 AM

from those pictures, it just looks like beckham doesn't really work out at all, his pecs aren't very defined, but hes not really out of shape either.

doubt he has much time to really commit to working out either, and it doesnt help with the amount of cardio he has to do as a soccer player

beckham just doesn't have the upper body definition and bulk compared to the guy in the second pic, you can tell by how much slimmer his biceps/triceps are, its kinda like that for all soccer players really - can't have too much weight to run around with

@coach, any particular back work you like? i freakin love doing chin ups on back days

jeffh 11-21-2009 08:27 AM

the more muscle you have the more blood/oxygen you have to pump to keep going. soccer players dont need huge upper bodies so all that would do is hurt his performance, i bet his legs look like tree trunks tho

I like doing wide grip chin ups and dumbell rows the most. Depends on my energy level though. :(

If I have enough energy I do some deadlifts, but thats rare unfortunately

heavy rows are just as good
those help get the back wide and some good thickness
you wold be surprised the amount of people that don't do deads
i usually do them once every 2 weeks

every body part should be your favorite workout day.

FUCK LEGS!

I do legs, but I FUCKIN HATE THAT I CAN"T FUCKING WALK the next 2 days! Especially when I have to do dumbell presses and rest the weight on my thigh or when my cardio workout suffers from it. :fuuuuu:

aznorris 11-22-2009 11:30 AM

i hate leg days also.. i just combine it with shoulder day

I actually dont hate doing particular groups, I just like back days the most
Ive come to like bicep days as well, ever since my tendonitis subsided (knock on wood)

jeffh 11-22-2009 11:56 AM

arms are by-far my favorite, HUGE pumps on arm days, they still feel rad 3 days later

E=mc˛ 11-22-2009 12:02 PM

hate squats sometimes because when my energy level isn't as high i literally have to lower the weights.

never really had to do that EVER for deads though. I'm always going up for deads.
love it

RRxtar 11-22-2009 12:30 PM

leg day sorta sucks because i have to plan leg day into whatever im doing that week with work/sports/etc. i cant do leg day a day or 2 before my indoor soccer league games, for example.

the one thing i absolutely HATE doing is abs, but i can usually get thru them pretty quickly and its pretty rewarding so i just do em and hate em. sometimes you just gotta get shit done.

and you cant use a picture of david beckham for an example of muscle development. he doesnt have any. and to be honest, i really dont like how the second guy is put together either. and to everyone in this forum, if you're posting a picture of a dudes body, make sure his pants arent so dangerously close to showing ween. hah

trd2343 11-22-2009 04:30 PM

I am skinny and I am working out to get stronger and bigger. Some say Beckham has no muscle development, but for me, he still looks a lot more muscular than myself.

What I am trying to point out is, you can see the pecs of the guy in the second picture literally covered his lats, While Beckham's pecs barely reaches the edge of his lats. So that's why I am wondering if Beckham focuses more on his lats instead.

Another similar example

love it

should try doing front squats

hal0g0dv2 11-22-2009 05:21 PM

but back on topic
i don't think your chest can big as wide as your back, chest tends to stick out more while you get the V taper with back at least that has what happened to me
