Question for engineers/ABET grads
 

I need help with my assignment guiz, I've attached a picture showing the area in question.

Basically I'm a little unsure of how to properly frame the above floor in the circled area. I've spanned my joists in such a way that I'm left with a small area that is left joist-less.

So my question: do I add a lintel at the doorway, a built up beam right by the sink in the powder room then span joists between them?

Another related question: Are lintels required at all window and door openings? Or only those which support floor joists?
