Does anyone work for Providence Health Care/ Vancouver Coastal Health?

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone works for Providence Health Care, Vancouver Coastal Health or anywhere health related?

I applied for various " upcoming Opportunities " for Providence Health Care 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard back from them. I absolutely detest applying for these kinds of jobs online. I feel like no one ever even really looks at my application/ resume, even though I know I am qualified for these jobs.

Any advice, referrals or any kind of help would be totally awesome.

Thanks in advance.

:p

what sort of positions were you applying for? Some additional information may help people who want to help you. i.e. are you applying for a nursing position? clerical position? etc...

I applied to a VCH posting this summer and it was longer than 2 weeks...it took almost 4 weeks for them to call me back...apparently the person in charge was on vacation!

I am not sure if the PH online resume looks the same, but I was able to see how many times my resume was viewed after I logged into the VCH online application website. Maybe you can try to see if that works.

Hope that helps, and best of luck to you!

I can't speak for VCH or the other authorities, but Im at VIHA. External postings can take no time at all for call backs or forever. Recently for us there have been a lot jobs approved for external posting and then frozen with the recent hiring freezes / slow downs. Hiring at these big organizations has so many interactions that can cause slow downs - funding gets cut, internal applicants need to be filtered, re-org's happen and the position is put on hold, other people leave and internal shifts happen before external applicants are brought back into the equation.

When I got hired on I was hired within a week of the competition closing. My colleague wasn't brought on until 6 months after he applied. Wait it out - if they want to talk to you and are ready to hire they will get in touch I am sure.

Some bureaucracy. HR filters out the applications then forward the 'suitable' candidates to the corresponding manager. Manager consults with supervisor and it goes from there. If any of the key player is on vacation or whatever, application will have to wait.
