Does a Credit Card Refund Count as a Payment?

Just wondering..

Here is a simplified scenario:

I purchased $2000 worth of stuffs from futureshop last month, and the purchase shows up on my cc statement.
Yesterday, I went in for a price match since the item I brought is now $100 less. Instead of refunding me a $100, they refunded me the entire $2000, and put another charge of $1900 on my cc.

So my online statement now shows:
Nov 1: $2000 Purchase
Nov 23: -$2000 (Refund)
Nov 23: $1900 Purchase

My CC statements ended Nov 15 shows a balance of $2000 due Dec 1.

So basically my question is: whether I need to make a payment this month? Coz if the refund is counted toward as a payment, then my Nov 15 statement would've been paid off with the full refund of the original purchase. (And the $1900 new charge wouldn't be payable until my NEXT cc statement)

Any idea?
(I know I can call my cc cs to ask, just don't want to wait 15 mins and spend another 15 mins explaining the situation to a dumb cs.)

I think you would still have to make the payment this month cause it's on this statement, if it were on the same statement then thats another story. Eitherway you gotta pay it next month, you'll just get a -$100 credit next month on your balance if you don't spend it on anything else lol
Much easier to just pay it since you gotta pay it next statement anyways. I'm pretty sure if you call they'd tell you to pay too cause otherwise you'd have interest collecting

the $100 would be in credit, you still have to pay it, but it will be in ur account for future use.

I heard for CIBC, any credit to your account counts as a payment.

Hmm, interesting. Yeah, I would tend to believe that the -$2000 will be a debit to the amount you owe this month, and the new $1900 will need to be paid next month.

You'll need to pay the 2000, the 1900 should be a credit to your CC for next month considering the period of your Credit Card ended on 15th. If it was in the same cycle date, i would assume you could call the CC company to find out exactly what you will owe.

That being said, call the CC.
