Kentucky man supposedly murdered is apparent suicide

Quote:

A Kentucky census worker found naked, bound with duct tape and hanging from a tree with "fed" scrawled on his chest killed himself but staged his death to make it look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Bill Sparkman, 51, was found Sept. 12 near a cemetery in a heavily wooded area of southeastern Kentucky. A man who found the body in the Daniel Boone National Forest has said Sparkman also was gagged and had an identification badge taped to his neck.

...

Sparkman had recently taken out two life insurance policies that would not pay out for suicide, authorities said. If Sparkman had been killed on the job, his family also would have been be eligible for up to $10,000 in death gratuity payments from the government.

Damn. Thats fucked up

^ It's more than likely he's about to lose his job. Knowing full well he wouldn't find a new job; the dude decided to take a life insurance policy to take care of his family. Now the family is stuck without anything. damn.

he died for $10000?!?!!?. If Sparkman had been killed on the job, his family also would have been be eligible for up to $10,000 in death gratuity payments from the government.

No, he had two life insurance policies, which would pay out a nice lump sum of cash to his family, AND they would also get payments of 10k on a regular basis from the government?

i think they just couldnt find any substantial clues so they just pegged it a suicide..

his wife could have taken out a life insurance policy for him and had him killed etc etc

He should have got a different policy and waited. My policy will pay out if I off myself but that part didn't kick in until I owned it for 2 years. So now I'm free to off myself and still get paid out.

You might want to check that again. As far as I know, there are no insurance policies that pay out for suicides.

Manulife FTW, Suicide clause (in which they don't have to pay out) kicks in if you kill yourself in the first two years from what I understand after that you're fair game my friend.

Suicide clause is the life insurance policy wording, which specifies that the proceeds of the policy will not be paid if the insured takes his or her own life within a specified period of time (usually two years) after the policy is issued.
