Fail me? like we didn't already know not to drink and drive and shit. | You might.. but many people seem to forget. Just a friendly reminder, that there ARE safe alternatives to leaving your car where you parked it.. ;)
Plus there are TONS of drinking & driving threads in the Police forum, by N drivers who got caught. And the fact is... it's never the first time they've done it, when they get caught... it's an on-going thing... so obviously some people don't realize what a bad idea it is. Quote:

can you explain how operations red nose works? I'd look it up and read it myself , but im just too lazy... | Check out the Operation Red Nose thread... but in a nutshell, volunteer teams of three come and pick you up and drive you home, in your own car. One drives your car for you, another accompanies for safety, and you get to play drunk passenger. A third volunteer drives their car (some are on loan from dealerships or ICBC...) and follows to take the crew to the next person.
It's a free service... run by volunteers. Though we appreciate donations, which go to the Rotary Club to help support youth programs around Metro Vancouver. Most people donate $20 on average... though we'd never turn someone down who is broke and unable to donate...
And since you asked... volunteers can nominate a charity for their donations to go towards. My friends and I help to support the North Vancouver Outdoor School Alumni Society, which funds the Outdoor School for Kids bursary fund... which in turn, allows kids who cannot afford to pay to attend the North Vancouver Outdoor School (in Brackendale), still attend the school with their classmates. The NVOSAS also awards 10 $500 scholarships to high school counsellors from the school. Kinda giving my own back... since I met my wife up at the NVOS after all... :D |
