Vuze is a memory hog

Really? I've had Vuze going in the background with iTunes & Firefox going, working on big image files in Lightroom & Photoshop without any problems. Even using just the integrated graphics, it's fine. Of course everything is faster (especially the image editing) when I switch to the dedicated graphics.

It's not obscene but on slower machines it's noticable, I just tossed on Vuze to compare:

Vuze - no torrents = 46,784k
uTorrent - 24 torrents (11s/1l) = 8,796k

yeah i saw that mininova was slowing down on their torrents...

but now i just use pirate bay.

I'm starting to use thepiratebay.org now. Love it :)

Piratebay gets a lot more downtime than a lot of the other torrent sites out there.

However I find it reliable in the sense that there's a lot more "user activity" that provides comments ratings and ranking of uploaders that way you know which torrents are good and which are fake.


Alternative I use is isohunt though and iptorrents.

Unless you're willing to pay about $15-30 bucks a month, you're not going to be using Usenet. That's pretty much the only reason why it isn't used as much as torrents...which are free. If you're on any of the private torrent sites, it's just as fast.

Telus had pretty good usenet service with its internet packages up until about 2007. I wish they still supported it cause it was such an easy way to grab stuff and max out your connection without having to worry about seeding.

But yeah, if you're gonna spend money, I'd rather get a $$$$$$$$$$ account or something like that over a usenet subscription or even stupider shit like share ratios on private torrents.

I've seen a lot of people on torrent forums pay to boost their share ratios on private trackers.

Obviously you don't HAVE to but most of the time, it's impossible to share anything relatively new because the seeders start to outnumber leechers by a huge margin.
