Question on Modding Blackberry Bold I want to black out my phone (changing the bezel) Is it true that when i do that, it voids the warranty on the phone? |
there's a sticker on the back of the phone inside the battery case. it will need to be removed in order for your housing to come apart. if RIM sees the sticker is damaged in anyway, that's a sign that the owner has modified the phone hardware etc and voids the warranty. |
what he just said^^^ the white sticker is on one of the 6 screws holding the phone together |
there are ways to get around it though. just have someone that knows their stuff do the change for you and mention that you don't want the sticker broken in any way. I used to have the Bold 9000 and did this without voiding the warranty. I did not change the bezel myself though. |
Has anyone ever noticed when you first remove the screws theres a slight snap to the removal of them. You have to break that seal so to speak to get the screw out. I heard on HoFo I think that RIM might use that that along with the white dot sticker to check if your warranty is void. All it is a mild glue that they put on each one. Im scared to open up my 9700 to put on the Black bezel because of this as the white dot is so easy to change and replace. |
