Two NBA commentators are discussing a player named Haddadi after noticing him on the roster. They talk about him for a minute, talk about where hes from, he passes the ball, life moves on, people freak the fuck out.
I heard about this on Conan and did some research. The way it was labeled on Conan it sounded like they used some pretty hefty racial language. I'm always interested in some good old public embarrassment so I dug out the clip (above)
After listening to the clip... four times... I couldn't find anything racist. Thats when I find this: http://www.niacouncil.org/index.php?...=1557&Itemid=2 Quote:
On Friday evening, Fox anchors Ralph Lawler and Michael Smith, hurled insults, including borderline racial slurs, at Haddadi.
Speaking derogatory about Haddadi's Iranian background, Lawler and Smith compared Haddadi to Borat.
When Haddadi entered the game and Smith said, "Look who's in." Lawler responded, "Hamed Haddadi. Where's he from?"
Smith answered, "He's the first 'Eyeranian' to play in the NBA."
Lawler: "There aren't any Iranian players in the NBA?" repeating Smith's pronunciation of the word "Iranian."
Smith: "He's the only one."
Lawler: "He's from Iran?"
Smith: "I guess so."
Lawler: "That Iran?"
Smith: "Yes."
Lawler: "The real Iran?"
Smith: "Yes."
Lawler: "Wow. Haddadi -- that's H-A-D-D-A-D-I."
Smith: "You're sure it's not Borat's older brother?"
Lawler laughed and Smith continued, "If they ever make a movie about Haddadi, I'm going to get Sacha Baron Cohen to play the part."

Are you fucking kidding me? They forced Fox to apologize over a mispronunciation of their country and a reference to a movie about a guy from Eastern Europe/Central Asia?
You know what? I see it! I see the long face, the curly hair, the bushy eyebrows, the wide chin. http://touchiran.com/wp-content/uplo...300_081124.jpg http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/famec...n_cohen-cc.jpg
