thinking of SLI'ing a Asus EN9400GT. Thoughts?

This video card is on sale right now, and was wondering if I should get 2 of these or 1 video card which is about the same price for both? Does SLI really increase the processing by a lot?

2 of these go for about 110 bucks total.

Get a single one. SLI is pointless for the most part unless you're SLI'ing the best cards on the market for the best performance.

Extra heat, extra noise, extra power..

ok, for clarity's sake the budget i have for a video card stays approximately the same:

1 higher end card: http://www.anitec.ca/product/12655/a...omo/sa8723jbaw

2 mid/low card in sli: http://www.anitec.ca/product/12284/a...omo/sa8723jbaw

Get the 9800GT. It'll be better.

In general, it's better to run a single GPU over 2 SLId GPUs that are half the price.

get the 9800 GT.
its preferable over SLI 9400gt, uses less power.

but in any case 9800gt is a fairly outdated card now, should try for a GTX 260 or HD 4870. Both cards will run about 150 (or less) when they're on sale.

geeze that 9800gt seems expensive... weren't better cards like the 4850 going for $100 a year ago...

sli 9400s would likely be shittier performance than a 9600gt, and well 9800 is pretty much on the low-end of midrange cards these days.

Go with a single GPU.
Multi-GPU is not worth the extra hassle. All of a sudden Micro-stutter becomes a problem, and lots of games have problems with multi-gpu rendering, which causes worse performance than running a single.

(I speak from experience with my current 4870x2, and my old cards were 2x 8800GT)

My next card will be a single.

why are u shopping at anitec?

if $100~120 is your budget, strech it bit more
ncix just had blackfriday sale on 4890 for $150
and had it for $130 on richmond opening day sale
wait for boxing day and i'm sure the same powercolour 4890 will be on sale again

i pop in between both anitec and ncix. both close to where i live. sometimes anitec has stuff a couple bucks cheaper than ncix. anyways, i stuck it out with geting a 9800gt.

i blew out my 8800gts just recently, tried to overclock with aftermarket cooler, i'm all thumbs...learned my lesson. so had to buy a new one.

NCIX does price match so I'm sure you could get it for the same price or less

plus they have better selection
