Help me decide on New Laptop

Need a new laptop for surfing, and light gaming

Staples has this one for sale, please help me decide if this is a good buy.

And what would you guys recommend around the same price range.

Thanks

Decent price. Processor is fine, and it does have dedicated graphics from the looks of it. From a little bit of research, the NVIDIA N10M Series is a NVIDIA G210M. If you're looking to lug it around though, note that's it 6.5lbs, so it's not too portable.

WHAT? but are you talking about the Black Friday sale down in the US??

I know 2 weeks ago on staples flyer, they had the same one for sale for $30 more.

$550 for the same computer??

StylinRed 12-03-2009 01:05 PM

not the same brand but the components (cpu/memory/hd/monitor/etc), they had it on ncix

It was a Lenovo Y550 with integrated X4500MHD

Would you guys consider the accidental warranty from staples??

For $250, your covered for 3yrs.

The sales guy was telling me, I could "accidentally drop" my laptop on the last day before my warranty expires, bring the broken laptop back and they could either replace it for you or give you a full refund.

This isn't the same as the FS, or BB psp warranty.

I doubt that can be fully true or everyone would just trash the thing with 1 day left and then get a new computer.

But $250 + interest in 3 years will get you a much better computer, unless you're extremely accident prone you shouldn't need it.

I'm gonna go and see if there's any "fine prints" around this warranty.

And see if I can reconfirm it with a store manager.

I wish Accidental damage insurance was priced like it is in the states $50ish for a year

i wouldnt bother with it though, (ive only broke 1 of my laptops with the monitor and even then i was able to sell it for a great price)
