Repair Cost

Bad day and horrible luck. I slid on black ice and crashed the curb.. on my car..

just wondering how much would it cost to replace the lower control arm.. and possible the CV axle on a 1998 Corolla.( on the front passenger side wheel )

thanks in advance.

suppose to be my winter beater too =[

edit: and cost for alignment .. that probably effed up too =[

no homo but it's going to cost more than 4 winter tires.
haha.. j/k.. no hard feeling. k?

I think your best luck is to actually go to a body shop and get them to give you a price. Sometimes there are hidden damages that are not easily spotted.

i got a mechanic to check it out and he said the lower control arm is bent and i don't have much experience, but the CV axle looks a bit off.. ball joint is not ripped or anything

i'll definitely need an alignment and replace the lower control arm

If you bent your control arm, chances are, you'll need tie rod ends too...

GS-TypeR 12-03-2009 01:37 AM

est how much would that cost me? i don't really wanna spend too much on a beater car when i can just drive my daily ride.

lexluthor09 12-03-2009 01:45 AM

alignment around 80
inner and outer tie rod is around 50
lower control arm around 100
axle another 100

that's just my guess with parts i've bought but it was for a civic. but hell rough estimate better than no estimate.

thanks a lot lex! damn.. just bad luck for me.. i just replaced the brakes on them and had new winter tires on them too.. sigh.. =/

you can also probably look for a complete used strut/knuckle/control arm assembly from a wrecker. should be somewhere around $250 +. Tie rods can be obtain from non-dealer but oe replacements too for a 98.

give Mikey @ K&G in Langley a call.... he'll get you fixed up on the cheap. 530-7283

Won't be able to drive down to langley. The alignment is off place and there is grinding on the strut. I think....
