Fido -> Rogers

I am currently into the first year of a three year contract with Fido. I want to get the Bold 2, but Fido doesn't carry it. Is there any way to transfer my existing contract to Rogers without incurring a penalty fee?

I am hoping someone that works for either sides can help me out with this question.

Thanks!

As long as you have used Fido for more than 12 months, yes you can switch to rogers without penalty, when you:
take a 3 yr contract with Rogers
port your #
Have your Rogers account name the same as your Fido account name.

But be careful, Rogers usually has more expensive in-market plans, so with the extra money you're paying each month x 36 months, you might be better off to buy an unlocked 9700 elsewhere (at least that's the case when I calculated my situation)

conditions are
at least 12months with fido, AND has been ON TIME for bill payments

its rare now for the switcheroo tho
call in and ask

^^ u dont necessarily have to be on time...it just might affect your ability to get an acct at rogers, but thats not one of the requirements afaik

nope, i've asked many people this question, from performance trainers, product trainers and account reps from both Fido and Rogers
being late once or twice doesnt really affect the credit, it was ON TIME

kayceeee 12-07-2009 10:18 PM

but fido isnt not going to credit him the ecf/decf based on his payments tho... afaik

fido doesnt credit him
Rogers does

and this is only something that can be done over the phone, not in store

No. If he's going from fido to rogers..fido credits the fees..the same if its vice versa..the original carrier credits it but I know rogers still charges whereas fido credits in full..providing you meet the requirements of course

this is what I was told when I called into Fido Retentions last week.

You go to Rogers and port your #, then Fido will send u a bill with the ECF. then you call Fido and tell them that you met the requirements and Fido will credit your a/c back the ECF.

hey guys! i just did this like a few weeks ago.
basically if you're a customer for over a year, you're entitled to switch ONE TIME between the two providers. meaning you cant ever do it again.

fido will bill you the ECF, then after 30 days they'll refund it.

sorry i'm bumping an old thread.
but i was wondering...what do you do first?!
do you call fido? doesn't that get rid of your phone + number? or do you get your phone/plan at rogers first?!
and are you able to keep your number afterwards?

Go to rogers dealer and they will handle everything for you closing and porting your number. After you have been with rogers for 15 days call fido (when your final bill for fido is ready) and tell them to cancel your ECF.
