All-in-One Printer/Scanner question

Hey guys im looking to get a all-in-one system to add on as a gift for the camera i got my dad

im looking at the Epson Artisan 810 or the Canon Pixma MP990

any thoughts about them?

or suggestions of something better? even a seperate scanner and printer?

Id like it to be able to print onto dvd/cds and scan 35mm film, i dont know if the Epson scans film though something tells me it doesn't

but there is a $70 rebate on the epson atm :)

Get separate scanner & printer, IMHO. The Epson V700 scanner does decent scans of film, and get a printer that has 6 colour inks or more if you want photo quality prints.

I don't know how picky you are, but the small format Epsons seem to have the slightest bit 'better' colour accuracy than the Canons. In the large format printers, it reverses, and the Canons seem to be better than the Epsons, for some reason. I mean, there isn't a huge difference, as both manufacturers make really good products, but according to the tests conducted at work, our resident super-picky digital imaging wizard was of this opinion. There were very slight differences in skin tones, but will you notice them in the real world? Dunno....

ok thx again
