You are master of the overstatement. Significant? I don't think so. And where is the unibody damage?

You can see that the wheel has abnormal negative camber and has been pushed back to the rear of the fender. The repairs consist of replacing the entire front left suspension assembly. I'd say that is significant suspension damage.

The unibody damage is in the lower front left corner.

lol.. sorry mancini, that's nowhere close to enough damage to cause the airbags to deploy. although to be accurate as others have said, deployment depends more on HOW the accident happened, then what the damage appears like afterwards.

I'm actually surprised to hear that. From what I've read a force equivalent to about 25 kph (and that's the upper threshold) should cause deployment.

I was going about 45 kph and hit the brakes at the last second (so 35-40 at the time of impact) and the other driver was doing 5-10.

The multiple sensor theory and angle of impact seems to be the most plausible explanation here.

My MS3 has only a single front sensor in the middle of the grille...

Did you hit your brakes? if so it's better than your air bags didn't go off, the seatbelt would have stopped you

i was recently in an accident with my G35 and i was going about 50-60 km/h and a guy in front of me made a u turn i hit him dead centre.

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...z/accident.jpg

judging by the pics it didn't look like much damage, but the air bags went off.

what happened was the sensor was dead centre behind the energy absorbers and triggered the bags to come on, i was already hard on the brakes so the seat belt stopped me, if anything the air bags did more harm when it blew my hand off the steering wheel.

in your case, and in most Nissans, the sensors are in specific spots, so if the sensor doesn't get triggered it doesn't need to come off.

plus it sucks to getting hit by an airbag, i had a yellow mustard looking bruise on my face when an air bag hit me a few years back, not fun.

damn butters, did your dad ground you after that? aww hamburgers.
