depends what car, and whether its aftermarket JDM or OEM JDM

i think OEM silvia 1 pieces are DOT approved

mine are jdm (i'm pretty sure) and somehow they have DOT stamped on them. so it's not always true.

if you get JDM housings, I hope you can swap the headlight reflectors to USDM please.... JDM are meant to be used in right hand drive cars, for flaring of light to the left.... in Japan, it's the shoulder on the left, but here is the opposite lane, so you'll blind other motorists. It may say DOT or SAE, but if it's from Japan, try not to use it. ;P
