ipod touch newbie help!

I know my ipod touch sorts mp3 by artist, album, playlist, ...etc

But is there anyway to sort it by folder? I have a sony walkman mp3 player and it allows me to open a particular folder. For example : folder "English songs" or " Movie soundtracks" which contains say 300 of all my english songs.

this way i dont have to search all of my library to find one single songs. Especially when i dont know the artist name or album name.

Just got an ipod touch and i am not used to not able to play by folders. Anyone know how ? or is it impossible.?

Impossible. Make playlists.

_Hotsauce_ 12-20-2009 08:19 PM

That would be a playlist? O_o

hotong 12-20-2009 09:27 PM

lol yah, sounds exactly like a playlist.

wasabisashimi 12-20-2009 11:10 PM

it takes forever to make playlis from like a 2000 song library. It would be easier since the songs were already sorted in its original folder....

I guess that is one of the ipod's inconvenient downfall

its not really that hard, just make a playlist on iTunes. drag and drop the folder into the playlist... and its done.

i added folders to itune library, after that i dont see the folders anymore under "music". All it shows are song titles with album arts. I dont see the folder in itune once i add them to library.

NOOO DUDE...

Step by step...

1) Create Playlist (Rename... preferably same name as folder). Then select the playlist... the window should be empty with no songs.

2) Open folder containing songs in Windows Explorer

3) Select All (Ctrl-A)

4) Drag and Drop into iTunes playlist (the one you just made)!!

5) Playlist Made!!!

6) Add another Playlist see 1)

i feel your pain, i am no apple fanboy, i will never buy apple, i hate learning new things like new OSX, itunes, even hated learning how to use ipod touch.

Since its a gift, i had to keep it and learn how to use it

Acting cool? No, I just understand how to use basic electronics, it's really not that fucking hard to figure out. OH, I did help, it's called a fucking playlist, please see post 3

FWIW i have never used any playlist function on any PC or mp3 player so its all new to me. my only other mp3 was windows based. drag drop done. make as many folders as you like just like explorer.

the iphone/ipod is a fair bit more difficult. you have to use itunes which has a million options and functions. and originally playlists wouldnt sync unless you had at least 1 song in the list. i used playlists for my videos as i never played music on my iphones.

none of which was mentioned in the manuals.

imo the iphone/ipod was one of the most frustrating piece of electronic i have owned. however once i got the hang of it it seems brilliant.

going from windows mobile to iphone is a steep learning curve. not a whole lotta similarities :p

Iceman_2K 12-27-2009 04:01 PM

OMG Windows Mobile (in its current form, though certain 6.5 implementations are amazingly good looking) is the shits.....its 2009 and the os looks like its from 2000.
