Recommendations?
 

Hey all,

I'm new to the tuning world and I'm looking to get started on my engine. I've got a '93 Del Sol with a B18b1 which is practically stock.
Besides an intake and headers, any recommendations as to what I should spring for? :confused:

Also, where can I get performance parts?

get a vtec head (b16a, b16a2, etc)

VTEC is really the way to go, huh?

What if I'm broke and can't get an engine swap haha...

well depends what you want from your setup. it's not a bad idea to have vtec. not sure if you know what i meant, but buy a b16 head and add that to the b18b block you already have. LS vtec setup is great for a turbo build.

Ooh! I completely misread, and I never considered the LS Vtec setup. How does it compare vs. b18c1?

supposedly there's better low down torque from a b18b bottom end compared to the b18c.

isn't ls vtec also pretty pricey? i heard that they make the engine more prone to problems, anyone have personal experience with it?

ls vtec is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a b18c1, b18c5, jdm b18c, or even a b16a2 sometimes. sourcing the block and head seperately is relatively simple with all the parts for sale here locally. transmission can be expensive if you go for the Type R ones.

i'm not sure where you're getting this prone to problems theory from, but any engine you build should always be rebuilt to get the most out of it.
