Picture Messaging/MMS on Telus
 

Hi all,

I'm wondering if sending/receiving MMS/Picture messages are part of the data plan or is it an extra charge. I have the Clearchoice $50 data/voice plan.

Cause I dont think blackberries can MMS. Unless they Telus finally changed it with the new netwrok

Telus's CDMA/1X/Evdo smartphones don't do MMS. They have the phones built with the capability removed. I've heard numerous different reasons as to why this is done, but the most ridiculous statement from a Telus rep was, "NO PDA phones can do it". She had no answer when I asked why my Rogers Treo did. Stupid thing is, you can re-install the appropriate software and with some tweaking and a little luck, these phones WILL work with MMS... I've even received an MMS message on my Telus Omnia.

Anyway, their new 3G/HSPA phones supposedly will do MMS. Old phones won't use the new network, of course, so they still won't (officially) work....

Hmm on my bold 9700 it says mms but I'm wondering if they charge extra for it. I sent 1 picture message already and received one. Hopefully they don't charge extra.
