Laptop keyboard repair, how? has anyone repaired their own keyboard themselves or know a good cheap place to do it? or should i buy an ext keyboard for this laptop, it's a home laptop so not a huge hassle |
Typically, the keyboard can be replaced by swapping in a working keyboard. The operation shouldn't be too hard, but it will depend on the manufacturers' designs. Dealextreme has some laptop keyboards ranging from 20 - 50 dollars. |
do external keyboards with usb output work on laptops? |
^^^ Yeap! |
alright i ordered one of those cheap indestructible rubber keyboards, that thing better last at least a year |
is your laptop HP? |
If its an HP i can answer some questions if you have any if you decide to repair it, since ive done it countless times. |
no, it's a toshiba satellite |
It's relatively easy to replace a laptop keyboard. It should take about 5 minutes. The last couple of laptops I worked on required the keyboard to be removed for RAM upgrades. It's generally impossible to repair a keyboard. They are not designed to be disassembled. The hardest part about replacing a keyboard is getting the replacement. I suspect you will find it on eBay. I have not found any readily available parts in Vancouver. |
